| Comments: | Amador Cellars is located off of Shanendoah Road, just before Bell Road on the left hand side if you are heading North East from Plymouth. The winery tasting room hours are Friday through Sunday 12:00-5:00pm or by appointment. The unique tasting room has been constructed by using bails of straw and concrete. The results are a simple, yet beautiful facility with 2-foot thick walls and consistent cellar temperatures. The winery focuses on Barbera, Zin, Syrah, Sangiovese, and Chardonnay; all of which do very well in Amador County. Larry likes to add the subtleties of oak by barrel aging to give the wine wonderful smokey, vanilla, and roasted flavors while not overpowering the fruit. I found the wines to be thoroughly enjoyable and I think the Zins are fabulous. The family oriented tasting room staff was friendly and knowledgeable and the cellar dog maintained a watchful eye on the steady flow of visitors. Don't miss this one!
