Recently,
while cruising through the Shenandoah Valley region of Amador, we noticed
a roadside sign advertising wine tasting at Frenz. This came as a
surprise since all previous tasting attempts at Frenz were thwarted by the
dreaded "sold out" sign which constantly adorned their
driveway. So, needless to say, we immediately high-tailed it over to
the winery to take advantage of the opportunity. We're glad we
did. Frenz was recently acclaimed a "new star" in Amador
county for their zins by the Vine Times (Feb 2002 pg. 27). I'll have
to say, the zin was quite good. In addition to the tasting room
offerings, they were conducting and outdoor barrel tasting too! (for
us, few things can stir the excitement of barrel tasting **grin**)
Needless to say, it was good. The staff was extremely friendly and
welcoming and the wine was good. Frenz definitely has a winning
formula.
