Recently, I
had the pleasure of visiting Nine Gables Vineyard & Winery. It
is located off of Shenandoah Road in the Shenandoah Valley region of
Amador County. They were pouring zinfandel, mission claret, barbera,
sauvignon blanc, cabernet, viognier, semillon, and syrah. I enjoyed
all of the wines but I particularly liked the mission claret (one of the
few producers of mission) and the zinfandel. I was very impressed
with the knowledgeable staff and the modern and comfortable
facility. The new winery is on some ancient Amador ground as you can
tell by the size of the vines near the tasting room.
