Chevalier
winery located off of French Creek Road in Shingle Springs and is a little
off of the beaten track as compared to other wineries in the area. Pierre
and Jeanette Chevalier are the owners and operators of winery and they
specialize in Bordeaux varietals, particularly Cabernet Sauvignon. I found
the wines to be much more in the European style of wine making rather than
the heavier style many producers are making in the Sierra foothills.
Excellent quality boutique winery with a friendly personal touch. I am
always looking forward to my next visit at Chevalier. Coming from Sacramento
on Highway 50, exit at Shingle Springs and continue East for a short
distance until you see French Creek Road on the right. Follow French Creek
through the old town for a few miles until you see the winery signs on the
right. In addition, the winery has a second tasting room which is located at
the intersection of Pleasant Valley Road and Buck’s Bar Road in Placerville.
