| Van der
Vijver is a must stop if you are in the Fairplay area. Don't worry
if you can't pronounce the name... nobody can. The winery is
located off of Fairplay Rd across from Single
Leaf. You'll know you are at the right place when you see the
wooden shoes nailed to everything. The shoes, by the way, are for
sale in the tasting room. Rob says they are comfortable, but I'm not
yet convinced. However, he certainly knows what he is doing when it
comes to foothill wines. We tasted Cabs, Zins, Chardonnay, and
Sauvignon Blanc; all excellent. Also, as an added bonus, Rob treated
us to some barrel tasting. It was fabulous! Expect to spend
some time if you visit Van der Vijver, Rob's personality is one of a kind
and his extensive knowledge of the industry is sure to impress. I am
very excited about this winery. I gladly joined the "adopt a
vine" club and bought several of the fabulous vintages. You
should too! I will definitely be back. In fact, Rob may get
tired of seeing me there. Do not be afraid of the name and DO NOT
miss this winery!
